Understand the needs of a specific motorcycle rider segment and design a feature tailored to their behaviors and goals.
Targeting the track motorcycle racing market — riders who value sharp bike control, strategy, and endurance. From entry-level racers to seasoned pros, success in this space depends on precision, skill, and physical resilience.
My focus is on amateur track racers, who make up the majority of the racing community. These are dedicated enthusiasts who participate in local and regional events, often racing on weekends or through club competitions. Their passion for performance and growth on the track makes them an ideal group to design for.
Research shows that riders want a clean, distraction-free dashboard and put more value on post-race analysis than real-time display. Focus and consistency matter more than adrenaline, and safety risks like hidden fatigue often go unchecked. Biometric insights after the race can reveal areas for improvement, and support is needed across the full race cycle—before, during, and after.
A data-driven dashboard combining rider biometrics with bike and track telematics to reveal how physical performance impacts lap times. Tracking metrics like heart rate, core temperature, sleep, G-force, and stamina, it delivers post-race insights mapped to laps and track segments for continuous improvement.
Connection to Exterior Device – Gathers data from personal devices.

The Ride Mode dashboard is simple, showing only essential info to minimize distractions. Large type ensures readability, the biometric start button at the top left provides real-time feedback, and heart rate is centered for easy monitoring. Green accents dominate, with red used only for precautionary alerts.
This screen displays collected data, the track library to review races, adjustable target rates, and performance insights over time. After each race with captured biometrics, the most recent track appears. Green highlights indicate interactive elements for easy navigation.
Pre-race factors like sleep directly affect performance. Poor sleep can raise heart rate and stress, while low variability signals fatigue. This feature shows how recovery habits impact readiness, helping racers prepare smarter for better results.
Physical strain affects speed and lap times. This feature tracks heart rate, core temperature, and G-force across laps to reveal what slows performance—whether fatigue, heat, or gear intensity—helping riders adapt for better results.
Your Stamina Score combines sleep and physical strain to show endurance throughout the race. It highlights how long high stamina was maintained and its effect on lap times, giving a complete view of performance.
Target rates are personalized. Clicking into Target Rates shows metrics tracked on the track—heart rate, core temperature, and G-force—which vary based on factors like gender, age, and weight.
Biometrics are great for a single race, but the real value is tracking progress over time. Users can click into insights to see the same metrics, not just by track, but across all races in the season.
Due to last-minute requirements and the reality of cutting costs in the industry, the screen isn’t clickable. To keep the prototype usable, simple arrow buttons let users navigate through categories. Check out the prototype to see this in action—Photoshop was not my friend when trying to add these in the mockups!
